Collection: Low Emission Burners (LEB)

A low emission fire, also known as a Low Emission Burner (LEB) is a wood burner that produces fewer emissions and is more efficient than traditional fires.

A LEB has pollutant emissions of less than 1.0g/Kg (less than 1 gram of pollutant per kg of smoke) and an efficiency of greater than 65%. LEBs have historically been the most common type of burner in Canterbury, but are being phased out in most Clean Air Zones - we can only permit ultra low emission burners (ULEB) in properties less than two hectares. Greater than two hectare properties in clean air zones can still permit a LEB.

A ULEB has emissions of less than 0.4g/Kg and an efficiency of greater than 65%. ULEBs are considered the cleanest solid fuel burners and can be installed and used indefinitely at any NZ address nationwide.
